HR80:
Hi! Thanx for answering our questions. First of all, introduce
yourselves, where do you come from and what kinda music do you play?
JENNYFER STAR: Hey! We´re Starlet Suicide, kikkin ass sleazepunkrock’n’roll from Sweden, and we´re outta getcha! HR80: You just released your 3rd demo, and it's self-produced. Can you tell us about it? JENNYFER: Yeah.. “Makin All The Noize” is the best shit we´ve ever done and I´m really happy about it! HR80: We can feel an evolution in your singing through the demos. Did you particularly work on that? JENNYFER: No, actually I haven´t done anything special.. Just been singing more than I did when I was younger (though I´ve always been singing), and I guess I finally found my style and strength. HR80: Jennyfer, you seem to be the leader in the band. Are you the one who write the songs, or do everyone collaborate to the writing? JENNYFER: I write most of it, but on the new EP Dallas wrote most of the music for “Heartless”, I did the melodies and lyrics though. HR80: You had some change of line-up, is the current line-up the good one? Can you tell us about Dallas Chrome, your 'new' guitarist? JENNYFER: Yeah, he kicks azz! I´m happy we got to meet him and I think he brings what we need to the band. HR80: You played with Karl Thunder for a while, can you tell us about this collaboration? JENNYFER: Karl was our first drummer, but he was never really a member of the band, because he has so many other projects he wanted to focus on. He helped us out though until we found Sammy, and when Sammy couldn´t make it to our mini Spring tour this year, he filled in again. |

HR80: What are your favorite
80's bands/influences?
JENNYFER: Guns, Wrathchild, Skid Row, Ratt, Hanoi Rocks, Stryper.. The list could go on forever! HR80: It's quite unusual for young people to dig 80's metal. How did you come across this music? And why do you like it? JENNYFER: In Sweden its not unusual hehe. There´s a big 80s revolution going on here. For me, I was raised by it.. My older brother listened to all kinds of 80´s rock music when I grew up in the 80s.. HR80: Are there any current bands that you dig? JENNYFER: Betty Blowtorch, Joan Jett, Fabulous Disaster, and the ones mentioned earlier. HR80: Why are there so many young bands that are influenced by 80's metal in Sweden? Are POISON, CINDERELLA & FASTER PUSSYCAT still played on the radio over there? JENNYFER: No hehe not really.. I don´t know why actually, except from that its good shit! HR80: You're gonna play few gigs outside Sweden. Is it difficult for a band that's not yet signed to get gigs in other countries? JENNYFER: For us, it hasn´t been that hard, and it´s getting easier all the time. HR80: You have enough songs to release an actual full-length album? Any project to sign with a label? JENNYFER: Yes.. We have got in contact with some labels that are interested and we hope that we will be able to get a full-length album out sooooon! HR80: There are not much glam bands that are fronted by a girl. Do you think this is your strength? JENNYFER: Hmmm.. Well it´s more boys than girls in glam bands but it´s still not like I´m the only one. I don´t think it´s our strength. I hope our strength is that we have killer songs and we are good on what we do! HR80: Jennyfer, can you tell us about Cherryfuck fanzine? JENNYFER: Hell yes! Cherryfuck is my baby fanzine which I run with my dearest friend Candy. It has been around for a few years but unfortunately we don’t have that much time for it anymore. Cherryfuck mainly focuses on cool grrrls in rock’n’roll & punk, and we like the color pink haha. HR80: I give you a name of a Swedish band, and you tell me what comes to your mind: ABBA: Disco! BACKYARD BABIES: Action HARDCORE SUPERSTAR: 'We don´t celebrate Sundays' BABYLON BOMBS: Friends of ours who knows how to party! GLORIOUS BANKROBBERS: Just heard the name, haven´t heard their music. DRAIN: Maybe the best band in Sweden in the 90s. CRUCIFIED BARBARA: Kikk ass girls that I lovelovelove, both musically and personally! ROXETTE: My childhood idols and I still love them! VAINS OF JENNA: Cool guys, happy for their success! ARCH ENEMY: Haven´t heard em. SAHARA HOTNIGHTS: 'I´m on top of the world!' HR80: Alright, one last thing to say to the French & Swiss & Belgian readers of this interview: JENNYFER: KIKK IT MUTHERFUKKERS! Check out our website at www.starletsuicide.com and download our shit! See ya!! HR80: Tack så mycket! <>
