RING OF FIRE

Mark, for many people you remain the singer of Yngwie Malmsteen, although you have a quite fulfilled career. Could you sum it up?
Mark Boals: OK. I've done 3 solo studio albums, 2 Ring Of Fire studio albums and 1 live DVD/CD, and several other "project" type albums, along with Malmsteen releases which add up to about 17 albums, I believe.

ROF is composed of great musicians, but is it just a band or Mark Boals 'BAND?
It is a real band, because everyone has a say in it, but I am the leader. We are all good friends and we get along very well, which is hard to find when working with great musicians such as these.

How are your relations with fans throughout the world? What are the countries that deserve you the best welcome?
I have such great memories of so many places. From Japan to Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Brasil, Argentina, Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, France, Belgium, Holland, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Turkey, Portugal, Greece, Canada, Great Britain, and even the USA, I have been enthusiastically welcomed by such great fans in all of these places

Have you individual future projects?
There will be something in the future, but for now I am concentrating on Ring of Fire.

You release a double live album, although you just released two studio albums. Isn't to early for a live CD?
Why? We weren't able to tour everywhere yet so we wanted to share our live show with everyone so they can have a taste of what to expect when we do our World Tour next year.

Mark on this live, we find titles by ROF (of course!), titles from your solo albums, but none from your Yngwie period. Why?
We performed some Malmsteen songs, but Malmsteen refused to give permission to put the songs on the DVD.

On the second CD, the singer on the sixth song has a wonderful voice. Mark, is it you singing there?
Yes of course! it's my "vocal solo"!

Has ROF schedule some tour dates in Europe and in France?

We will be there early next year.

What would you say to our reader for them to buy your live album and the previous studio albums?
Try it! You'll Love it!

One last word for the people who will read this interview on the site 'hardrock80' and for the French fans in general.

I haven't been to France for awhile and I miss your beatiful country very much! I'll see you all in 2004!
