did you meet and how did you decide to work together?
I met toby first when my singing niece kelly brought him to my studio-
she was raving about this guy who she had just met at a dick clark productions
audition- we met, we clicked and i immediately tried him out on a duet
with kelly- when i was looking for a singer for pride of lions- he was
my first choice.
Tobty, you have an awesome voice. How long have
you been singing and who are the singers that have influenced you?
I have been singing basically since i was about 4 years old- i am the
son of a preacher so the singing in church was always a big part of my
life- i am influenced by many of the great american soul singers but also
love the great rock voices like the singers of toto, foreigner, survivor,
journey and kansas- they wrote the book as far as i am concerned- with
the pride of lions record i got to really stretch out and show some of
those influences.
Jim, you already have an astonishing musical career,
why did you decide to engage yourself into another challenge?
I believe you have to keep challengeing yourself to stay vital- i dont
like to sit back and live in the past- the past is nice- but the future
is more exciting to me- making new music- bringing it to audiences new
and old alike.
Are you aware that this album is very good (laughs)?
We felt very strong about the album as we were making it- we couldnt wait
to get to the studio everyday because we knew we were on to something-
of course the audience is the final judge- but we are satisfied that we
did our best
