EIDOLON

What did you do since your last album 'Coma Natioon'?
Well, we played some live shows in Canada, and started writing and recording what is now our new record - "APOSTLES OF DEFIANCE" - This record is like "coma nation" on steroids!!!! It will definately melt your face!!!!!

Eidolon is not very famous in France. How do you explain that?
I think for a number of reasons, really - we have not toured in France, we're not a european band, we dont sound like all of the other bands out there, either. Hopefully, we can expand our audiance in europe and France over time.

Another album ('Sacred Shine') is released this year. Why do you pout out two albums at the same time?
We didn't. "sacred shrine" is basically old demo's from 1994-1995, era - a record company called "perris records" really wanted to release these demo's on c.d. format, so we agreed to do so - it has nothing to so with our new record release, as there is a huge difference between where we were musically in 1994 to where we are in 2003.

What are the major bands that have influenced you?
I am really influenced by all different kinds of heavy metal and music in general, really. RUSH has always been a very big influence on me, as well as JUDAS PRIEST, and so many others, really - ahving said this, we never try to copy and certain band, we try to be as original as possible, though sometimes other influences may come through, but thats natural to some degree

The cover artworks for your albums are awesome. Who makes them?
We are lucky to have an amazing artist who does all of our artwork for Metal Blade - his name is Jan meininghaus, and he is from Germany, I believe. We always talk about the basic idea for each record's artwork, then he does his magic and creates what I think is some amazing paintings - we are quite lucky to have him do our record covers!!!

What would you say to the metal fans for them to buy your album?
If you want to hear a band who plays 100% real HEAVY METAL, buy an EIDOLON record!!!!

Iron Maiden and Metallica have just released each a new album. Have you listen to them and what do you think of them?
I am a big Iron Maiden fan, but I have not heard their new record as of yet, but of course I will buy it very soon!!!! as for Metallica, what I have heard from their new record, which is not much, I was not impressed with, unfortunately.

Did you ever tour in France or in Europe? If so, what do you think of the European audience?
We have been fortunate to have played 2 festivals in Europe - "BANG YOUR HEAD FESTIVAL" in 2001, and "WACKEN FESTIVAL" in 2003 - both were very good experiences for Eidolon - we hope to return for many more euro-festivals in the next years!!!!
