PARADICE

Hello, I'm Jean-Pierre, from France. Could you present yourselves? Where are you from?
We’re Paradice, a sleaze band from Stockholm, Sweden.

The singularity of your band is that your lead singer's a girl. That's quite unusual for a glam rock band, how did you get to meet Magdalena?
She knew our former lead singer Patrick who recommended her to us after he left the band.

When we listen to your demo, it seems that Magdalena's voice is getting better track after track. I personally think that her voice's a bit weak during the first 4 tracks of the demo, and then she's really getting better, that's obvious on the song 'Bad Girl', which is just awesome. Did you record the songs in the chronological order that they appear on the demo?
I really don’t remember but I think the melodies in the later songs are more varied and not so monotone, it all depends on what you like…But we’re not really satsified with the vocals, we didn’t have a lot of time recording so we did it the best we could, but it could really be better, I know she has the capacity!

You did a cover of a Madam X song. That's really unusual, this band is rather unknown. How did you get the idea of recording 'We Want Rock'? And where did you find a Madam X album?
Madam X were quite big here in Sweden when they released their first and only record with the swedish magazine OKEJ publishing interviews and pictures with them. My brother and cousin were fans of them and my brother had the LP on cassette. We decided that we should do a cover of them and we decided to play “We want rock”.

We can also see a clip of your live rendition of 'Youth Gone Wild'. The crowd at your show seems to go crazy on this tune. Did you record a studio version of it? If so, do you plan on releasing it on day, whether on a demo or on an album?
We didn’t record it, we just play it live to spike up our show.

When we listen to your demo and when we see your cover songs, it seems that you're stuck in the 80's heavy rock musically speaking. What are your favorite bands from this era? Do you also dig old Scandinavian bands, like Glorious Bankrobers, DAD, and even Europe?
I prefer music recorded between 1982 and 1987. I listen a lot to TREAT, Fate and TNT but not really to other swedish or scaninavian bands.

Do you like recent bands? What is the last CD that you bought?
Animalize by KISS, not so moder though…

What do you think of the emergence of all these rock bands from Northern Europe? Stockholm seems to be the Los Angeles of the 2000's for rock music! Do you have this impression?
It’s good to see that new bands are coming up and youg people who weren’t even born in the 80’s likeing the music!

It seems that there are many clubs in Sweden where rock bands like you can play, but is it really easy for you to put up shows?
The clubs that are in Stockholm usually have the same bands playing so it’s hard if you’re inside the carousel

You played with many sleaze/glam rock bands, like Gemini 5, Crash Diet, Loud N Nasty, Crucified Barbara. What do you think of their music? Who would you recommend us to listen to in priority?
I think you should listen to them all and especially to Loud’n’Nasty if you like the LA metal scene of the early 80’s!

What are your ambitions? What can we expect from Paradice in the future?
We hope to release a record and maybe tour a little, you can’t expect more in the musical climate that is now, let’s hope it will change for the better!

Your look is very glam. Do you walk like that in the street, or is it just for stage? Is it trendy in Sweden to have such a glam attitude?
Usually we just look that way when we’re on stage but sometimes when we go out to clubs and such…

One last word. What would you say to the French readers who will discover you through this interview in order for them to rush to you internet site and listen to your music?
Keep supporting sleaze and glam, spread the word and maybe we’ll come to your town one day!Stay sleazy!

Alright, thanx a lot for answering these questions, good luck for everything!
