Vu Fois

Congratulations for being the new member of Axxis. What did you know of
that band before you joined them?

Well. When I was 15 years old I bought the Back To The Kingdom album. That was in 2000.
It had got great critics in the Rock/Metal Magazines, so I had to check it out, and I still think it´s a strong Album. My favorite songs on it are Shadow Man, Sea Of Love and Flashback radio.

Did you pass an audition with the band? If yes which songs did you play with or for them?
Of course I had to do an audition! We played Dance With the Dead, Tales Of Glory Island, Take my Hand, Save Me, My little Princess, Winds In the Night, Kingdom Of the night, Angel Of Death, Little War ,Brother Moon, Living In A world. So quite a few. It was great fun the vibe was bad ass.

You are only 22! Do you think you young age will bring freshness and energy
to the band?

The band is still fresh! I think Lakonia brought a lot of fresh air into the band.
I love the two albums with her, she did a great job. Of course I´ll do my best to keep the fire burning.

Will you take part in the composition process of the new album?
Yes. I already heard some songs and ideas of the guys, and they asked me what I liked about the songs and stuff, and yeah I have some input for sure. And from what I´ve heard the new songs sound are killer and fresh. And that´s my goal to combine the classic Axxis sound with modern elements.

On your website you also say that you are working on a solo album. Will you
find time to work on it this year or is this delayed?

Well yeah. I´m still working on it. Some demos are already done, but there still is a hell lot to do, and Axxis is the most important for me now. I put all my energy in it so I’ll have to see how it gets with the solo stuff. I’ll probably release my solo album in 2008.

Axxis has a kind of legendary status in Germany. Do you think that
integrating the band is an achievement or a new start?

I think a Band can only work great if it is actually a REAL Band. And Axxis has always been about that. Everybody knows his place in the band and that five people have to be a unity on stage...like a Football team. And I really can´t wait for the future shows. It´s gonna Kick ass!

Even if Axxis was a "typical" hard rock band a few years ago, they play now
more symphonic heavy metal. Is it a style you are familiar with?
Well, that´s actually my favourite style. I grew up with Bands like Queen, Yes, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Malmsteen, Stratovarius, Meat Loaf…and they all got very symphonic elements, and nor just 2/3/4 Chords like Poison or AC / DC. I love that kind of Progressive/Symphonic Rock/Metal. I like new Bands like Kamelot, Nightwish, Epica… I love that kinda stuff.

Who are the guitar players you like the most? Did you know Guido before?
Everything started with Brian May from Queen. Without him I would never have played guitar..
The song Brighton Rock from the Live Killers album really changed my life!
Something was happening you know. Besides him players like Steve Morse, John Petrucci, Randy Rhoads, Chriss Olivia, Chris Caffery, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Doug Aldrich really gave me the will to play guitar.
Of Course I knew Guido before. I always liked his works on the Axxis Cds and I wish him all the best for the future.

Now a traditionnal question I ask to all the German artists I interview : which are your favourite German bands?
Oh well! There are some great bands over here. I like Helloween, Dreamothergirl, Rage, Silent Force, Metalium, Vanden Plas, Masterplan, Pink Cream 69, and The Scorpions who did so much for German metal.

To conclude, would you like to say something to the visitors of our website?
Keep Metal alive, and I´ll see you guys on tour! I Really can´t wait to play in France with Axxis.
Keep it real!
